Lee Smallman
Growing up (and working) on the Chirping Bird vineyard Lee has always been around wine from a young age. Opening a drive through bottleshop with his father Rod in 2009 marked the start of his professional working career within the liquor industry. With the passion for wine developing along with his palate, the vineyard was always going to be his ultimate role within the business.
Outside of Chirping Bird Lee loves to adventure with his camera in the search of big mountains and adrenalin fuelled activities. If he isn't working on the business you can be guaranteed to find him shredding off the peak of a mountain or jumping off a cliff somewhere in the world.
Rod Smallman
Almost all of Rod’s working life has been in the wine industry and when the opportunity arose to purchase some land on the Mornington Peninsula, he grabbed it quickly with the idea to have his own Vineyard. Creating an impeccable Shiraz was always on his mind and so the decision to plant Shiraz first was a bit of a no brainer – driven more from the heart than the head, but aren’t the best things always are?
Aside from great Shiraz Rod's other passion is building boats. His current project is a Moorea 45 which he's building from scatch at the Chirping Bird Home Block. The shed seems to have grown bigger than the house to accomodate the massive project!
